Spain - Part 2 - Day 1

DAY 1

Day 1 started a bit early for my taste but for a good reason! Telchac surprised me with a little boat trip so off we went. Our (for the few couple of hours) beautiful sailboat waited for us in the port. Both of us were a bit nervous considering our rich breakfast and the fact that we have never been sailing before. I'm happy to say that it was uneventful vomit-wise. My stomach wasn't really sure what to do when I started eating the delicious Jamón Ibérico and drinking the Rioja wine by Marqués de Riscal but as both me and my stomach are quite wise, we kept everything in.

Then we decided to walk back. Nice "short" stroll across sunny Valencia. That was what we thought. Reality: hot as hell, I chose the wrong way so at one moment we were in the middle of this:

How? I honestly, do not know. So we had to go back and it took us almost 3 hours instead of one to get to the hotel.
It was fun, no, now it's fun :D But there were surely some funny moments - right after the port we stopped for some water and finished the wine we had from the boat. Then we took some nice pics at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.

On our way (desperate, thirsty and hungry) we realised they grow tangerines along the road. Yop, we took one and ate it right then and there - it was delicious! After we finally got back to the hotel, we wanted to go to the spa but instead, we fell asleep :D
Useful tip (from Telchac): Rely on your girlfriend's navigation skills. An off the beaten path surprise will await you every time. That is exactly what you want!

In the evening, we had a reservation at Mercatbar but as the Spanish do not go out before 8pm, we had plenty of time to make it even after we woke up (at 7pm :D). If you're asking what Mercatbar is and why we wanted to go there so 'desperately' it's simple - Quique Dacosta - rings a bell? If not, feel free to jump to the last paragraph now. We've been following Quique on IG probably for a year and been dreaming about sunny Denia where his Restaurant is. As he also runs several restaurants in Valencia we couldn't miss it. We went for Mercatbar as it didn't seem to be too formal (no dress code required) and we weren't wrong. Except for the food being amazing, the decor was unbelievable! Tomatoes "splashed" on the wall, they give you shopping basket to put your bag in - well, you are at the market after all ;) Also their colourful bar means that you will not be disappointed even if seated there.
It was still hot outside when we came back - around midnight. Boat, walk, sleep, food & wine - our first day in 5 words - perfect if you only want one! Our only goal now was to get some beauty sleep for the Day 2. CU then (and there)!
P.S.: I highlighted our IG story from the boat, check it out in our IG profile ;)
